Quiltface was once a soldier who served in the United States Armed Forces, and fought in the Vietnam War alongside his friend. While he was in combat, an explosion occurred near him, causing most of his face to be severely burned. Quiltface was left horribly scarred and deformed from this incident, and became extremely mentally ill. He and his friend later went on to live in isolation in a desert, and Quiltface would kill anyone who trespassed onto their property. To hide his deformed face, he carved multiple small pieces of skin out of several of his victims’ faces, and stitched them together like a quilt to create a mask that covered his entire head, hence his nickname. The two men would also cannibalize their victims’ corpses for survival purposes, as they likely had a scarce amount of food and resources available to them in the desert area.
