When Moe was young, he was very quiet and introverted, and he kept to himself most of the time. He would often collect things as a hobby in his free time, such as coins, stamps, and insects. This behavior caused him to get bullied by his peers when he attended school, and they all treated him as if he was an outcast. This treatment caused him to physically harm himself often, and he would do things such as cut himself, stick needles underneath his fingernails, and pull out his eyelashes. When his parents found out about this self-harm, they disowned him, and sent him to live with his religious aunt in an attempt to “cleanse” and “exorcise” him. His aunt had a daughter named Erin, who was about the same age as him. While living there, his aunt would become abusive towards them, often forcing them to bathe in ice-cold water together, because she thought that it would “preserve” their youth and innocence. However, Moe began to enjoy the feeling of the cold water, and would get excited at the sight of his cousin’s skin turning blue from the freezing water temperature. He would also collect, torture, and kill animals he found, and then would preserve their dead corpses in ice packs in the floorboards of his bedroom. Some time later, he murdered his aunt and cousin, and violated his cousin’s dead body in the ice-filled bathtub. He disappeared before the police could arrest him, and for the next 20 years, he would murder and collect innocent women, and then freeze their bodies in ice.
