Dawn O'Keefe is the main character in the horror-comedy movie Teeth.

Dawn has lived in a house that is close to a nuclear power plant, and this has presumably caused her to, without prior knowledge, develop she a set of mutant teeth between her legs.
As a member of a Christian group, she talks about a purity ring and then sees Tobey. Two other group members go out with them, and Dawn imagines a fantasy where she marries Tobey. Because of their oath to remain pure, they are unable to spend time together despite the attraction, but they soon become curious. Nevertheless, they go swimming and then into a cave where they start to kiss. Dawn wants to return to the dry land, but Tobey tries to rape her, and she pushes him away in a panic. Tobey becomes more hostile and she hits her head on the ground. When she is unable to react, Tobey sexually assaults her, and she inadvertently bites off his penis with her vagina. Horrified, they both flee from the swimming place. Later, she meets Ryan, her classmate at a social event. They talk and he drops her at home.
Dawn drops her purity ring from a cliff and goes back to the swimming hole. When she sees a crab crawling on Tobey's maimed organ, it terrifies her. At home, she uses the internet to investigate mutations of the female sex organs, which brings up a phrase 'vagina dentata' and she realises she might have it. She visits Dr. Godfrey, a gynaecologist, in an attempt to find out what is happening to her. However, he attempts to probe her, and in the chaos her vagina amputates four fingers on his right hand.
While going home, she sees a policeman driving Tobey's car. The cop orders her she to stop at the side of the road. Later on, she visits the pool again to investigate. While there, she sees divers recovering Tobey's corpse. Back at home, her ill mother Kim O'Keefe collapses. Dawn's stepbrother Brad and his girlfriend Melanie hear her cries for help but disregard her, continuing to engage in sex while she lies on the floor. Dawn's mother is hospitalised.
Dawn visits Ryan, seeking help and they successfully have intercourse. The next morning they attempt this again, but Ryan’s friend calls halfway through. As Dawn probes him, he arrogantly boasts that he and the friend had bet on whether he and Dawn could make love, and he won the contest. Furious, she mutilates his penis with her genital, and she leaves him to call his mother for help. Later, Dawn learns her mother had perished. Her stepfather Bill attempted to evict Brad, but Brad sends his dog to attack Bill.
Dawn meets her stepfather and Melanie at the hospital where, empowered by her mutation, she goes back home to seek revenge. Dawn applies make-up and seduces her stepbrother. In the act, Brad recalls that, while still young, Dawn bit his finger, but it was not her mouth that bit him. As he realises this, her genital bites off his penis, then she drops it on the ground. Brad orders his dog to attack her, but the animal instead turns on his owner and consumes the organ, spitting out the glans and its piercing. Dawn leaves him whimpering and maimed on his bed where he presumably dies from excessive blood loss.
Dawn leaves her house on a bike but punctures one of the tyres, forcing her to resort to hitchhiking. An old man gives her a car ride but she falls asleep and after a few hours wakes up after nightfall. When she tries to exit, he repeatedly locks the doors. He licks his lips as if to ask for a sexual favour to release her. Dawn first looks horrified then hesitates, and looks towards the camera.
